Well,  Here we are in the middle of February already!  On our way to spring and the beginning of the Northern dive season, though some of us die hards have been diving all winter!

Here's a little known secret.
Up here the best diving (When properly equipped of course!) is right after the ice is out.  The water is cold - around 35 to 40 degrees - but there are no boaters and, best of all the viz is incredible!!! Its not uncommon to "see" over 100 feet!  Viz like that really changes the character of the wreck you've been diving all the time in the warmer months when the viz is less - believe me.  And there are plenty of great  wrecks to dive in the St. Lawrence River and the Eastern Basin of lake Ontario.

For anyone looking for new territory, new wrecks to dive I highly recommend any of the great books by Cris Kohl.  He has been diving in the great lakes and writing books about it for decades now and has amassed a lot of information i nine books and many articles.

Enjoy your diving and keep the wonder in it.

SCOTT.
